Man arrested in Northern Meadows shooting last week
Camino De Los Montoyas
Aiden Burke, 21, of Rio Rancho, was arrested Aug. 13 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a motor vehicle and negligent use of deadly weapon in the 3800 block of Clear Creek Road.
A caller reported that a man had shot at him in his car, saying he was driving down Camino De Los Montoyas when he saw a man fall to the ground while riding a bike. He said he saw a gun on the ground next to the man, so he pulled off to park on Clear Creek Road. He said the man stopped directly in front of him, approached his car and pointed the gun at him.
The victim put his hands up and stepped out of the vehicle. Then the man got back on the bike and rode away. The victim said he then heard a gunshot, which struck his back window.
Just after the victim gave a description, police got a call from the grandparents of the man who shot the gun and identified him as Burke. They were concerned with his well-being, saying he was being belligerent with them.
Officers formed a perimeter around their home, and Burke was detained without incident.
Burke could face three or more years in prison if he is convicted.
