Holiday (Hockey) Shopping: Goatheads open retail store at The Block, start of partnership
First in-person shopping location for the franchise
RIO RANCHO — There's a new kid on the block, quite literally.
Announced last week, the Goatheads revealed a new retail store at The Block plaza on Enchanted Hills Boulevard.
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, New Mexico’s newest professional franchise is now offering an in-person shopping experience, including some new items exclusive to the storefront.
“Anyone looking to do some in-person holiday shopping this week?” the franchise said on its X account, hinting at the store’s opening.
Holidays or not, the retail store marks the first true foray into the community for the organization, aside from pop-up stands at community events and its brand reveal in late September.
Shoppers can find winter gear, such as beanies and sweatshirts, as well as typical fan gear, including T-shirts, wall pennants and hats, among other items.
A new storefront is just one of several moves the Goatheads have made in their first couple of months of existence, staying active despite not officially hitting the ice until next fall.
The retail location comes just days after the team announced a collaboration with the brand “Violent Gentlemen,” updating its apparel line with new pieces, as many of the originals have sold out. The team also announced that it has officially surpassed the 1,000 mark for season ticket deposits, marking a December to remember so far.
If the team's online success is any indication, the storefront should be a hot spot for the City of Vision. On its shop website, 10 different items are currently sold out across multiple categories, with the team offering item pickup at the Rio Rancho Events Center with an appointment.
The Block has also signed on to be one of the team’s corporate sponsors, making this just the beginning of the partnership between the two.
“We’re thrilled to team up with a local business that’s growing fast and bringing new energy to the community,” Goatheads General Manager Jared Johnson said in a statement online. “This partnership will give Goatheads fans a premier spot to watch every away game during our inaugural season.”
The Goatheads team store is open from 4-9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 10 p.m. on weekends.
So whether you need some last-minute gift ideas or you're just a fan looking for the newest gear, Rio Rancho’s newest team may have just what you need.
