Santa Fe man arrested for burglarizing home, stealing truck
PLACITAS — A Santa Fe man was arrested for burglarizing a home and stealing a truck.
Zachary Rosenberg, 36, of Santa Fe, was arrested March 12 for aggravated burglary and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle at a residence on Camino De La Rosa Castilla in Placitas.
Dispatch informed police that the incident might be connected to a previously reported stolen vehicle and that the calling party had reported seeing the stolen truck at the Speedway gas station in Bernalillo off US 550, according to a criminal complaint filed in court. Bernalillo Police Department was already investigating the stolen vehicle portion of the call, it states.
The reporting party told police that the back window of the residence was open and that no one should be inside the home. When asked if this was connected to the stolen truck report, they confirmed it was. They said that they were driving up to the residence when they saw their father's truck traveling westbound on Highway 165 near Placitas.
After speaking with the caller, police confirmed the back window was open as well as the side door.
Police note the rear garage door appeared to have been tampered with and possibly opened. The area where the stolen truck had been parked had visible footprints, and the trailer that had been attached to the truck was no longer present, it reads.
Police state in the complaint that during a search of the home, it appeared the suspects had gone through multiple areas, opening closets and dresser drawers.
A Bernalillo Police Department unit located and pulled the vehicle over at mile marker 244. The driver was identified as Rosenberg, according to the complaint.
Rosenberg could face 9-15 years in prison if he is convicted. He is scheduled for a preliminary examination in April, according to court records.
