The New Mexico Department of Health's mobile vaccine unit will provide free flu and COVID shots from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Public Schools’ administration building Oct. 22.

“This is a great opportunity for New Mexicans to take advantage of this free service,” Andrea Romero, immunization program manager for NMHealth said.

“The mobile unit’s goal is to provide vaccines to uninsured/underinsured adult populations that need access at no cost and reach underserved areas in the state, including rural communities.”

NMDOH will give an update on the respiratory season and illnesses at 1 p.m. that day to members of the Legislative Health and Human Services Committee in the administration building as well. Lawmakers will be encouraged to take advantage of the mobile unit. The public is encouraged to attend the hearing to get the latest on virus season.

For more information about the unit and the legislative hearing, contact Robert Nott, NMHealth’s director of communications, at 505-479-0147.

Anyone who needs help finding a vaccine or has questions about vaccine can call the NMHealth Helpline at 1-833-796-8773 (1-833-SWNURSE).
