Hernandez announces run for re-election to NM House
New Mexico Rep. Joshua Hernandez announced Friday that he will run for re-election for New Mexico’s House District 60, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to serve the community of Rio Rancho.
Having served two terms, Hernandez has prioritized his dedication to small businesses, education, safe streets and access to quality health care.
Hernandez has a personal history rooted in hard work and community service. Born and raised in New Mexico, Hernandez witnessed his parents' entrepreneurial spirit and became one of the youngest members of the state House of Representatives.
Among Hernandez’s legislative achievements are spearheading liquor license reform, legislation aiding the limb-loss and limb-difference community, curbing catalytic converter theft, making the medical credentialing process faster and improving medical step therapy for patients with cancer and autoimmune disorders.
"As your state representative, I've been privileged to bring forward legislation that not only addresses immediate needs but also paves the way for a brighter future for all New Mexicans," Hernandez said. "From supporting our small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy, to ensuring our health care system meets the needs of New Mexicans, my focus remains on making real, positive changes."
Hernandez has varied experiences across retail, hospitality and strategic communications which enrich his approach to governance.
Hernandez said he is eager to continue his work toward improving education for all, growing small businesses and job creation, supporting law enforcement and expanding health care accessibility.
"The journey is far from over," Hernandez said. "I am wholeheartedly committed to the people of District 60 and to the enduring values that make Rio Rancho a remarkable place to call home. Together, we can build on our achievements and strive for even greater heights."
