Gladiators game produces Madden-like numbers
Gladiator quarterback Javin Kilgo breaks down a drive with a coach. Kilgo was used sparingly but threw a nice touchdown that helped during the offensive shootout.
The Duke City Gladiators lost to the Frisco Fighters July 7 despite scoring more than 50 points.
The Gladiators fall to 2-12 on the season with two games left after the 81-55 loss.
If you like offense, then this was the game for you. Video game-type numbers piled up as the teams combined for 19 touchdowns for a total of 136 points on the scoreboard.
Dual-threat quarterback Hasan Rogers had a great night, throwing for three touchdowns and running for another three touchdowns. Rogers was the Gladiators' leading rusher with 52 yards, and he had 136 passing yards.
Even backup quarterback Javin Kilgo came in and threw a nice 25-yard touchdown to Gladiator receiver Louis Dorsey. Dorsey finished the game with four catches, 66 yards and a touchdown.
Also, shining bright was Gladiator superstar Tamorrion Terry. Terry finished the night with four catches, 87 yards and three touchdowns. Terry has now scored a touchdown in every game that he has played for the Gladiators and had his second hat trick of the season.
Despite all the success on the offense, the Gladiators had one turnover, which ended up being a factor in the shootout.
Another problem for the Gladiators was the arm of reigning IFL MVP T.J. Edwards, who threw for nine touchdowns, and had a near-perfect 155.8 passer rating.
The Gladiators will hit the road this week and play the Bay Area Panthers July 13. The Gladiators last played the Panthers on June 22 and lost 32-34.
