Gladiators have a new star in Tamorrion Terry
Gladiators receiver Tamorrion Terry comes out of the tunnel. Terry already has established himself as a touchdown machine since being traded to the team in May.
Receiver Tamorrion Terry was traded from the Jacksonville Sharks to the Duke City Gladiators May 21. Ever since then, “Scary” Terry has been a touchdown machine and has provided some serious juice to the Gladiators offense.
Terry can do it all: take the top off of a secondary, win contested balls, turn a quick hitch into a big play. But more importantly, when he’s on the field, the Gladiators have seen a difference in the win column. When Terry hasn’t played, the team is 0-8. However, when Terry has played, the team is 2-3.
“I always turn on the tape and watch DK Metcalf, I watch Mike Evans, I watch [Davante] Adams, those guys. But, for the most part, I’ll always be locked in on Mike Evans or DK Metcalf. Guys with the big size, physical, fast, those deep threat-type-of-guys,” Terry said.
He’s a big-play threat and an impressive height-weight-speed receiver. According to his pro day numbers, he weighed in at 207 pounds, stands at 6 feet, 2 ¾ inches, and runs a 4.44 40-yard dash.
“I like to take the top off [of a defense], and I’m gonna get it over with so our defense can get back out there,” Terry jokingly said when asked what types of plays are his favorite to make.
Since putting on the Gladiators uniform, Terry has put up some crazy numbers, including scoring a touchdown in all games that he has played.
In the five games that Terry has appeared for the Gladiators, he has caught 17 balls for 493 yards and nine touchdowns for an average of 29 yards per catch. More than half of his receptions have gone for touchdowns.
“I grew up watching football, and I would always be locked in with the TV when a game came on. I knew it was something I wanted to take seriously, “ Terry said.
Terry played high school football in Ashburn, Georgia, before playing collegiately at Florida State University.
“When I was in high school, it was the game before the playoffs, it was one of the games that we had to win to make it to the playoffs, and I scored the winning touchdown and I always think about that touchdown and how I scored it,” Terry said.
According to 247 Sports, Terry was a 4-star recruit and chose to attend Florida State University to play football over offers from many big program schools like Auburn, Florida, and Georgia.
During his time at FSU, Terry immediately became a contributor as a freshman with 35 catches, 744 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2019, he was named second-team All-ACC as a wide receiver; he scored nine touchdowns on 60 catches and racked up 1,188 yards. Terry also spent some time in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and won a National Arena League (NAL) championship with the Jacksonville Sharks in 2023.
“Scary” Terry is electric, and has some advice for any young players aspiring to play pro football someday
“Stay focused. Surround yourself with positive people, and listen to the advice of those before you … that have been in your shoes. They know the game; they fared well. So, just listen to those guys who grind, work hard, and have faith that everything will pay off in due time … for real,” Terry said.
