League of Women Voters releases nonpartisan voter guide
SANDOVAL COUNTY — As the 2025 election draws near, voters may be wondering just whom they are voting for.
For the convenience of Sandoval County voters, the nonpartisan League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico shared a voter guide Oct. 14.
"This guide is published to assist voters in learning about candidates, bond questions, and other issues on their ballots. The work is done by volunteers," the guide reads.
The League of Women Voters stated that it never supports or opposes candidates or political parties. This year the Leagues in New Mexico have put together an online statewide voter guide called VOTE411.org.
According to the document, the guide uses software developed by the LWV of the United States, for candidates to enter their answers to a series of questions developed by the state and local leagues. No one at the league edits or alters their answers. The only restriction imposed is a character limit for answers. VOTE411.org also includes information about what’s on the ballot, including bond issues, and other local questions, the guide states.
The 28-page guide includes the logistics of voting in the county as well as a brief questionnaire for candidates in Corrales, Jemez Springs, San Ysidro and the school board candidates in Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Jemez and Cuba. The questionnaire also includes comments from the public improvement district, water conservancy and flood control candidates.
Bonds in the school districts and a mill levy question are also detailed after the questionnaire.
