Rio Rancho celebrates Independence Day in style
American flags were a common sight during Rio Rancho’s Fourth of July Parade in City Center.
RIO RANCHO — The city of Rio Rancho held a Fourth of July celebration at Campus Park to celebrate the birth of the United States on Independence Day.
“It’s beautiful. The weather is amazing. It’s not as hot as it was last year. The parade was amazing. I just appreciate all that the city does,” said Rio Rancho employee Rose Martinez, who works in the Office of Emergency Management.
Families crowded Campus Park to indulge in live music, food trucks and for adults over the age of 21, a beer garden.
“I just want to thank the community for coming out and supporting the event. Happy Fourth of July everybody, and we’re just happy to be here,” said Shaun Willoughby, owner of The Dough Box.
The Dough Box was one of the many food trucks on site; other trucks in attendance include Cerealsly Sweet, Sourpuss Lemonade, Shaka Cone, Pop Pop’s Italian Ice and more.
At 6 p.m., the annual parade began, and residents began to pack the sidewalks.
Many people brought lawn chair equipment and coolers to watch all the parade festivities. Volunteers were passing water bottles to all in attendance as the sun was in full effect.
“Everybody’s out here having a good time,” Gregg Hull For Governor campaign volunteer Christopher Gavin said.
The night ended with a plethora of fireworks that lit up the sky.
