RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho residents can spread Christmas cheer this holiday season by dropping off a shoebox packed with gifts for needy children.

The Samaritan’s Purse announced the launch of its project, Operation Christmas Child, with nationwide drop-off locations ahead of National Collection Week, Nov. 17-24.

The locations, including two in Rio Rancho, help further the initiative in the works for more than 30 years.

“These gift-filled shoeboxes have been delivered to millions of children around the world. Shoebox gifts, packed with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items, bring joy and hope to boys and girls who may have never received a gift of their own,” The Samaritan’s Purse stated in the release.

The Rio Rancho locations include Vision City Church, 2900 Southern Blvd. SE, and Calvary Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Road NE.
