RIO RANCHO— Before the end of summer, the Cleveland High School wrestling program held a signing ceremony July 31 for three of its wrestlers who will compete at the next level.

“We couldn’t be prouder of these three for using wrestling as a tool to pursue their college degrees and for having the passion and drive to continue competing at a high level,” boys wrestling head coach Evan Copeland said.

The three Storm wrestlers signing letters of intent include Briseis St. John (Adams State University), Tristan Dodd (Life University) and Wade Wallace (New Mexico Highlands University).

The past season, St. John helped the girls squad win the state title while Dodd and Wallace were runners-up for the individual state title in their respective weight classes.

“Our program has a proud tradition of sending wrestlers on to the collegiate level, and these three are the latest to carry that torch. Their hard work, dedication, and love for the sport are truly inspiring,” Copeland said.

In the past 15 years, the Cleveland wrestling program has had 24 wrestlers compete at the collegiate level, including eight wrestlers in the past two years.
