Note from the Observer
The guest editorial from the city of Rio Rancho has been published completely unmodified, even for AP Style.
While word count suggestions exist for letters to the editor for space considerations, guest editorials or columns are not limited to a specific word count. The only instances a word count limit has been strictly enforced since 2023 are for candidate columns in campaign seasons in accordance with election fairness rules.
While the Observer regrets any factual errors or misspellings that accidentally get through to publication, staff works to quickly make corrections when they are brought to our attention.
