RIO RANCHO — Two women were arrested for burglary at a hotel in Rio Rancho Dec. 16.

Karen Bedonie, 51, and Loara Antone, 21, both of Navajo, were arrested at the Extended Stay America Suites on NM 528. Bedonie was charged with aggravated burglary. However, she allegedly committed a battery as well, according to a criminal complaint filed by Rio Rancho Police Department.

Police were initially called for a rape report, the document states. A calling party said their daughter was "raped, drugged, human trafficked, was in a bad state, and with a male who is not safe." The caller also said they had tracked their daughter to one of the rooms and that their daughter called them for help that day. Another call came in from a man stating someone was putting their hands on him at the same location.

Officers responding to the call were intercepted by a man. Due to the initial call, the complaint states, the man was placed into investigative custody.

The man told police that he and his fiancé, who was later identified as Bedonie's daughter and Antone's sister, were in the room he rented in his name.

While he was showering and the fiancé was cooking, he heard knocking at the door. When he went to open the door and ask who was there, Bedonie and Antone were trying to force the door open, according to the complaint.

The two start yelling at the man's fiancé, it states, telling her that she is no longer part of the family. The man said he had enough and picked up the hotel room phone to tell the clerk to call the police and have them come to the room.

The man told police that Bedonie started sprinting toward him, shoving him into a desk. Then she grabbed the phone and ripped it out of the wall, he stated.

Police note that the room's scene matched the man's description.

Bedonie refused to speak with police and allegedly told Antone to do the same.

Burglary is generally defined as the unlawful entry into a structure with the intent to commit another crime inside, usually theft, but it could be assault, vandalism or another felony, even if the intended crime isn't completed.

Bedonie and Antone could face three to nine years in prison if convicted.
