Unopposed candidates win, of course; other bond issues easily win approval

In addition to the school board race and bond questions in the City of Vision Tuesday, voters in Corrales and Bernalillo also went to the polls.
- In Corrales, three village councilors and a judge ran unopposed.
District 2 candidate William Woldman received 228 votes; District 5 candidate Zachary Burnett received 186 votes; District 6 candidate Stuart Murray received 187 votes; judge Michelle Frechette received 1,301 votes.
All three bond issues passed easily: The flood control bond was OK’d by 78%of the voters; the fire department bond received 81% favorable votes; and the open space question won approval by 80%.
- In Bernalillo, three school board candidates ran unopposed: In District 1, Christine Suina got 367 votes; in District 4, Cordelia Chavez received 588 votes; and in District 5, Paul Madrid got 254 votes.
The Senate Bill 9 question for the school district also passed, 64% to 36%.
- Also of interest to area residents, the Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) $80 million bond question was also passed, 64% to 36%.
Additionally, District 6 CNM board member Virginia Trujillo, first elected to the board in 2015, ran unopposed and garnered 2,233 votes.
