Audrey Trujillo, a Corrales Republican, announced her intention to run for New Mexico Senate District 9 this week.

Trujillo is a native New Mexican, 25-year resident of Sandoval County, small business owner, wife and mother. She is a University of New Mexico graduate with multiple degrees including a bachelor’s in criminal justice, Spanish and Portuguese, as well as a master’s in public administration with an emphasis in justice administration.

Trujillo previously ran for secretary of state in 202,2 and she continues to participate and serve in her community.

“I am so honored to run for my district and unite our community. Right now, we are outnumbered in the Senate two to one and we don’t have fair or equal representation in Santa Fe,” Trujillo said. “Our rights are being disregarded and the peoples’ voice is not being heard. As your next senator, I will represent everyone in my district no matter who they are and bring attention to all the issues we face. I believe in our constitutional rights, transparency and fairness in our elections, preserving our unique culture and history, and making sure everyone is equally represented in our community. Serving my fellow New Mexicans has always been a priority, whether it’s at the grassroots level, local level, state level or national level.”

Trujillo’s experience includes serving her community as the PTA president for Corrales Elementary School, committee director at the Corrales Mentor Center, which helped children and with anti-bullying seminars, volunteering for the local harvest festival that partnered with the local Kiwanis Club, and was the committee chair for the local 702 Boys Scouts and PAC 702. She’s currently the Ward One chair of the Republican Party of Sandoval County, which incorporates 37 precincts in Corrales, Rio Rancho, Placitas, the town of Bernalillo,

Algodones and Sandia Pueblo, political director of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of New Mexico and was the state executive director of the New Mexico chapter of LUCA – Latinos United for Conservative Action.

“From Corrales all the way to Bernalillo, Sandia Pueblo, Algodones and Placitas, I promise to unite our community and stand up for my fellow New Mexicans,” Trujillo said.
