Southern Blvd. expecting brief closure for improvements

RIO RANCHO — Part of Southern Boulevard is expected to be closed for 12 days, beginning Monday, to allow for road improvements.

The closure, involving the westbound lane of Southern Boulevard between Rainbow Boulevard to Daffodil Drive, will allow for base course — material directly below paved road — to be installed.

Vehicles approaching Rainbow from Southern or Daffodil from Southern will be provided directions for a detour. Drivers, regardless of which direction from Southern they are approaching the closed portion of roadway, can take Rainbow Boulevard or Second Street SW up to Idalia Drive.
