SCSO donates toys locally
RIO RANCHO — The Sandoval County Sheriff's Office and the New Mexico Department of Corrections partnered to deliver toys to kids before Christmas.
The sheriff's office collected toys for children of parents who are on probation or parole and corrections department officials made deliveries, according to a Dec. 16 Facebook post by the department.
"Our probation and parole Rio Rancho officers proudly teamed up with the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office to bring joy to children this holiday season," the social media post read.
The delivery itself Dec. 23 caused many in Rio Rancho to post their concerns on social media as dozens of police units rode on the streets with their lights on. At around 10:30 a.m. the caravan of vehicles drove on Southern Boulevard with goods in tow.
"Our department sponsored families in need for the holidays and we were in the process of delivering gifts and food," SCSO Lt. John Castaneda said.
