ALBUQUERQUE — A Sandoval County Sheriff's Office deputy is on administrative duty after being arrested for aggravated DWI in Albuquerque.
Deputy Kevin Saiz was arrested Dec. 7 for the suspicion of driving while intoxicated. According to court records, Saiz allegedly nearly caused an accident after running a red light at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Broadway Boulevard. He also allegedly admitted to the arresting officer that he had one drink at a University of New Mexico Lobos game.
"Deputy Saiz is currently employed with the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office, pending the outcome of both the ongoing criminal investigation and an internal affairs investigation," SCSO confirmed in a Dec. 12 statement.
In accordance with departmental policy, it states, Saiz has been reassigned to administrative duties during this period. "His law enforcement powers have been suspended until all investigative processes are completed," it said.
