SCSO helped Albuquerque Police Department over the weekend
ALBUQUERQUE/SANDOVAL COUNTY— Sandoval County Sheriff's Office came to the Albuquerque Police Department's assistance over the weekend, Feb. 7 and 8, for street racing in the central part of the state.
"This past weekend, our Street Racer Tactical Team conducted aggressive enforcement operations targeting illegal street racing across the Valley and Northeast Area Commands," APD posted Feb. 12.
SCSO specifically helped catch a red Ford Mustang with fraudulent plates that fled from officers at speeds exceeding 100 mph on I-25. According to SCSO, they used spikes to stop the vehicle.
The arrest contributed to 42 total citations issued in the area. Two of those were issued for racing, but 29 were issued to spectators. There was one felony arrest, one felony warrant and 16 traffic stops.
"Street racing puts lives at risk. We will continue to aggressively enforce traffic laws to keep our community safe," the post reads.
