Sandia Pueblo police to hold sobriety check Aug. 27
In an effort to combat and deter individuals from driving while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, the Sandia Police Department will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint Operation on Aug. 27, within the Pueblo of Sandia reservation.
Officers will be contacting drivers passing through the checkpoint and conduct a brief screening to identify impaired drivers in an effort to keep the roadways safe and to discourage impaired drivers from driving a motor vehicle, according to a notice from the police department.
Impaired drivers that are identified will be arrested and face prosecution, jail time, suspended driver’s license and penalty fees. This operation is part of a comprehensive, collaborative approach to traffic safety and is funded by ENDWI Traffic Safety Grant.
