RIO RANCHO — R4Creating is creating new opportunities for young people.

The nonprofit focused on teaching science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is accepting internship applications from high school, college and graduate students, according to a news release. Applications are due Jan. 6.

Dr. Shelly Gruenig, R4Creating founding executive director, said the program, running from January to April 2026, is designed to build "a homegrown pipeline of innovators" for New Mexico.

“Our mission is to turn learners into leaders, and giving young people real responsibility and hands-on experience is the most powerful way to accelerate their growth," Gruenig said.

The 12-week internship allows interns to choose among several areas of focus: 3D printing and design; media, marketing and content creation; STEM education and outreach; evaluation and grant writing; and business partnership development, the release said.

Interns can get real-world experience by working in laboratories, design studios and various business environments, according to the release.

The internship is paid, with interns earning $15 to $25 per hour, based on their education level, the release said.

Qualified applicants can submit materials at www.r4creating.org/12-week-internship-program.
