Placitas Community Library holding star party
PLACITAS — The Placitas Community Library announced it will hold a fall Star Party at 5 p.m. Nov. 15.
It will start with solar viewing. Then, at 7 p.m. the Albuquerque Astronomical Society’s Star Master will teach the group about stars and planets that will be in view that night, according to the announcement. Viewing will wrap at 10 p.m. A variety of telescopes will be available for use. Members of The Albuquerque Astronomical Society will be available to share information.
The Placitas Star Party is free and open to the public. The announcement recommended that people arrive well before dark and use only parking lights as they come into the lot. Parking lot attendees will be on hand to direct traffic.
In order to preserve night vision, organizers are asking that those using flashlights or headlamps in the observing area cover them with red.
