Michelle Sandoval again aims for House District 57 seat

Michelle Sandoval is throwing her hat back into the ring and has officially announced her candidacy for New Mexico House District 57 as a Democrat.

“I am most excited about connecting with constituents, listening to their concerns, and sharing my vision for our community’s future. Additionally, I am thrilled to campaign with my new daughter, as it’s an opportunity to introduce her to the values of civic engagement and community service from a young age,” Sandoval said.

In 2022, Sandoval ran for House District 57 against incumbent Jason Harper. Harper defeated Sandoval in the general election vote, garnering 6,082 votes (51.8%), while Sandoval garnered 5,654 votes (48.2%).

Sandoval was born in Las Cruces, raised in Rio Rancho, and was part of Cleveland High School’s 2015 graduating class. She is a University of New Mexico graduate with a background in finance, business and psychology. She has work experience with Bank of the West, Sandoval County and is currently employed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

“I want citizens to know that I am deeply committed to serving our community with integrity, empathy and dedication. My background in finance and business and psychology, coupled with my hands-on experience in both the private and public sectors, equips me with a unique perspective to address our district’s needs effectively,” Sandoval said.

Sandoval also volunteers with organizations such as Junior Achievement, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Special Olympics and leads her own nonprofit, the Eco-Warriors.

“I am passionate about fostering collaboration, advocating for equitable policies, and ensuring that every voice is heard and represented. With your support, I am ready to work tirelessly to make our district an even better place for all of us to live, work, and thrive,” Sandoval said.

“I humbly request the support and assistance of my constituents,” Sandoval said. “Your involvement and support are greatly appreciated.”

House District 57 encompasses several Rio Rancho subdivisions, including Northern Meadows, Mariposa, Cleveland Heights, Enchanted Hills, neighborhoods on the north side of Idalia, and more.
