Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull recognized Martin Luther King Jr. Day during the Jan. 11 governing body meeting.

“Whereas the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to achieving equality in our nation, and whereas Dr. King’s words, inspired and continue to inspire today millions across the globe, and whereas Dr. King devoted his life to serving others and believed that life’s most urgent and persistent question was, what are you doing for others? And whereas, through acts of dedication and service in our local communities, state, country and around the world, the memory of Dr. King and what he stood for is honor. Now therefore be it resolved that I, Greggory D. Hull, mayor of the city of Rio Rancho, hereby recognize January 15, 2024, as Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday in the city of Rio Rancho,” Hull said in a proclamation.

He added that he encourages all citizens to reflect on King’s life.

King would have been 95 years old on Monday, and the anniversary of his 1968 assassination falls on April 4.
