RIO RANCHO — A man was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at someone at Walmart.

Francisco Aldridge, 52, of Rio Rancho, was arrested Nov. 15 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at the Unser Boulevard Walmart in Rio Rancho.

Aldridge was released with conditions this week, however.

According to the criminal complaint, a caller said a man later identified as Aldridge pointed a gun at them during an altercation outside the store. They told police the altercation started because the man had cut several people in line.

When they confronted the man about the line cutting, he allegedly laughed and the altercation continued out front in the parking lot, where Aldridge allegedly rolled down his car window and pointed a gun at them. Surveillance confirmed the events, the report states, and Aldridge was seen leaving Walmart.

When interviewed on the phone by police, Aldridge stated that he felt threatened by the caller, claiming that they approached his window and threatened him. He stated that he was unsure of what the caller was saying and that he rolled the window down and pointed the gun at him.

He said he heard them say they were also armed and saw another person taking a photo of his license plate. He did not say he saw a weapon.

He also stated that he keeps the firearm in the center console of his car.

Aldridge could face more than a year and a half in prison if he is convicted.
