Horse on the loose caught by Rio Rancho PD
Officers stand with a horse named Charlie, who was caught wandering Northern Meadows earlier this month.

RIO RANCHO — There was a guest roaming Northern Meadows’ streets July 6.
Rio Rancho Police Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy confirmed that a horse named Charlie got out of her corral and wandered the streets.
“The horse was located at King and Wilpett. The owners came to the scene and walked her back home,” she said.
The department recently posted a photo of officers with Charlie on Facebook stating, “Breaking News: Local Horse Goes AWOL, Leads Rio PD on a Hoof Pursuit!”
However, Reedy said the horse was actually subdued in behavior.
“Apparently, a very sweet horse. Just wanted to explore,” she said. “She was just having a great afternoon.”
