Fire destroys RR home
A fire destroyed a home on Sagebrush Court on Thursday.
According to Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue Department information, firefighters were called to the scene about 9:45 that morning.
Crews initially attacked the fire from inside the home, but then part of the roof collapsed, according to RRFR. So, they went back outside and fought defensively, meaning they tried to keep the fire from spreading to other homes, with flames having engulfed the house.
One resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation on scene. No other injuries were reported.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Floersheim said the department has handled four structure fires so far this year, the same as in 2021.
