Emergency dispatch getting emergency power backup
Sandoval County dispatch generator grant approved
BERNALILLO — The county's backup needs a backup, and now they're getting it.
Sandoval County Commissioners approved a $150,000 capital outlay grant agreement for the Dispatch Center for a backup generator for emergency power.
"I'm happy to announce that there were only 40 awards granted on this first-ever grant," administrator Lara Chavez said.
She added it is a new funding source that was introduced into legislation last year. She thanked her new grant writer, who helped with this particular grant, as well.
Earlier in the meeting, public works said during a presentation that construction of the dispatch center has been about 90% but the construction of the backup generator will help that project become complete.
The center has been fully operational since October. The backup generator will be there for the center's "rainy day."
