Early voting for runoff election begins March 27
The city of Rio Rancho will have a runoff election for District 1 and 6 city councilors since no candidate in the March 5 election received a majority of the votes cast, as required by the city’s charter.
Early voting for registered Rio Rancho residents in District 1 and 6 is available from March 27 to April 6. Election Day voting is April 9.
The city of Rio Rancho municipal election ended on March 5 with incumbent Paul Wymer retaining his seat in District 4.
The other two districts on the ballot required runoffs.
District 1 candidates
- Jim Owen 398 votes (43%) in March 5 election
- Deborah Dapson 412 (44%)
District 6 candidates
- Edward Paulsgrove 379 (28%)
- Nicole List 579 (43%)
Early voting locations
- Broadmoor Senior Center (Clerk’s Annex), 3241 Broadmoor Blvd.
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Wednesday, March 27, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 30 and April 6.
- Plaza @ Unser Marketplace, 701 Unser Blvd Unit A12
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturaday beginning Wednesday, March 27.
- Rio West Business Center, 103 Rio Rancho Blvd. Suite B1
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday beginning Wednesday, March 27.
All early voting locations will offer same-day voter registration.
Absentee Voting
Individuals can vote absentee by filling out an absentee application and submitting it to the City Clerk’s Office. The last day for a voter to request an absentee by mail ballot is Tuesday, March 26.
