BERNALILLO — There is one week left to donate to the Sandoval County Treasurer’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Partnering with the Nacimiento Community Foundation, which operates the Checkerboard Food Pantry in Cuba and the St. Felix Food Pantry in Rio Rancho, the county will accept donations until Nov.14, a news release states.

Distribution of donations will take place on Nov. 12 via a drive-through program at the Checkerboard Food Pantry, and donations to St. Felix Food Pantry will be delivered by Nov. 17.

“For several wonderful years, our office has come together to nourish our community,” Sandoval County Treasurer Jennifer A. Taylor said. “This Thanksgiving, please join us again in sharing warmth and sustenance with families this holiday season.”

Taylor encouraged residents to gather a few cans or boxes of nonperishable food items while grocery shopping and drop them off at the Treasurer’s Office. Suggested food items include canned vegetables, beans, soups and fruits as well as rice, pasta and holiday favorites. Frozen turkey(s) are appreciated and can be donated only on Nov. 12 by 10 a.m.

Residents can drop off their donations at the Treasurer’s Office located in the Sandoval County Administration Building, 1500 Idalia Road, Building D, Bernalillo.
