Corrales voted NM's most coveted retirement destinations in survey
Corrales was voted New Mexico's most coveted retirement destinations in a MarketBeat survey in May.
The survey asked retirees to consider their dream retirement locations. Corrales was ranked 30 out of 130 other locations nationally, making it the top New Mexico entry. Santa Fe was also listed as number 97.
"I would rank us higher than 30, but I’m sure the other places are nice," Mayor James Fahey said.
Corrales MainStreet Executive Director Angela Gutierrez says those who live in the village know what a "wonderful place it is."
"We're happy that others recognize it, too, as we strive to preserve our unique heritage while sustaining a thriving community," she added.
The survey describes Corrales as a rural village known for its agricultural heritage, scenic landscapes and equestrian culture.
"The area offers a peaceful, countryside atmosphere with vineyards, orchards and horse farms, as well as local shops, galleries, and community events," it reads in the description.
The survey went out to 3,000 retirees and those nearing retirement, pinpointing specific neighborhoods that "retirees would choose if money were no object."
"When selecting an ideal retirement destination, various factors come into play, with financial health and retirement planning being paramount. Those who have diligently prepared for their golden years often gravitate towards exclusive locales known for their luxury and appeal to affluent retirees," it reads in a release.
The other listed locations in the survey can be read about on the MarketBeat website.
