Corrales K-8 principal resigns as state investigates
Alvaro Ramazzini stepped down from his position after being placed on administrative leave Feb. 6
CORRALES — The principal of Corrales K-8 has resigned following an internal investigation, and now the state is pursuing a complaint filed against him by Albuquerque Public Schools.
Alvaro Ramazzini stepped down from his position after being placed on administrative leave Feb. 6, pending the outcome of the investigation, spokesperson Martin Salazar wrote in an email Thursday.
Salazar did not provide further details or immediately respond to a request for comment. He previously stated that he could not share what led to the investigation because it is a personnel matter.
PED spokesperson Janelle Garcia said Friday that Ramazzini is under investigation by her agency after it received a complaint by APS on Feb. 19. She said she could not provide more information but said the complaint could be obtained through a public records request.
Ramazinni was appointed in July to run the school and was first hired by APS in October 2023.
Casey Reid Kadlec, the principal of Inez Elementary School in Albuquerque, was named interim principal of Corrales K-8 in Ramazzini’s absence.
The school, located at 200 Target Road, served elementary students for decades before recently expanding into a K-8 school. The expansion began with a sixth-grade class during the 2023-24 school year, adding a grade every school year until this school year.
