SANDOVAL COUNTY
Commission switches up chair, vice chair
Meek steps away from the gavel
BERNALILLO — County commissioners will sit differently on the dais at Sandoval County.
As of Jan. 7, with Jordan Juarez as chair and Jon Herr as vice chair, they sit in the center and left-center positions in the chamber room.
Commissioner Josh Jones thanked the former chair, Mike Meek, for the previous year.
Meek thanked Herr and Juarez for taking on the jobs.
"Thank you for your leadership, and I'm going to say congratulations to our new chair and vice chair. Hopefully, there's not too much of a a burden on you, but we here have faith that you'll do a good job," he said. "You're going to do a great job I'm absolutely sure. You're taking a lot more responsibility here. So, both of you, as chair and vice chairman, we appreciate your service."
Herr thanked the other commissioners for the appointment.
Juarez joked that the chair he was sitting in now as chair was "messed up" and said he didn't know how other chairs managed it.
"I would just like to round out the evening with a thank you to my fellow commissioners for having faith in me to hold the opposite chair for the next year," he said.
Herr and Juarez are both relatively new to the commission as they are currently serving their first terms in office.
