Commission recognizes Black Business Month
BERNALILLO — The Sandoval County Commission recognized Black Business Month Aug. 27 at a regular commission meeting.
“Along with the state of New Mexico, (Sandoval County) proudly recognizes the valuable contributions of Black-owned businesses to our local economy and culture in our community,” Commissioner Josh Jones read aloud from a proclamation.
He added that the month offers an opportunity to support the entrepreneurship, innovation and economic impact of Black-owned businesses.
“Sandoval County and New Mexico contribute to the diversity and strength of our communities by providing jobs, creating economic opportunities and enriching the cultural landscape. The businesses often face descending challenges, including limited access to capital resources, making it essential to promote equity, inclusion and support to ensure success and sustainability,” he said from the proclamation.
He also read that the support shown for those businesses will benefit the greater community.
“Sandoval County Commission reaffirms this committee to creating policies and initiatives that promote the success and growth of black-owned businesses, ensuring they have necessary tools and resources to thrive within our community,” he stated.
