Cleveland High School placed on lockout after gunshots heard near campus
RIO RANCHO — Cleveland High School was placed on lockout this morning following reports of gunshots heard near campus, Rio Rancho Public Schools said.
The lockout — which does not allow visitors in or out of the building but allows instruction to continue — was done as a "precautionary" measure, according to Rio Rancho Public Schools spokesperson Wyndham Kemsley.
The lockout was lifted after the school district's security officials determined the campus was secure, Kemsley said.
Rio Rancho Police Department confirmed Dec. 4 that a report of 10-15 shots were heard in the mesa near the school.
However, officers weren't able to locate anyone related to the shots fired in the area, RRPD stated. It was determined there were no injuries nor property damage as well.
