City announces opening dates for The Hub
The Hub @ Enchanted Hills is set to open this month.
The new quality-of-life center, located at 7845 Enchanted Hills Blvd. NE, features Rio Rancho’s third public library and a recreation center featuring two indoor pickleball courts. It spans 11,020 square feet.
According to a release from the city, it has been more than 15 years since such a facility has been added. “The Governing Body and city staff saw a need for a library and recreation center that would serve the northern area of Rio Rancho,” the release states. “The area’s population has grown rapidly and has in underserved in terms of quality-of-life amenities.”
Mayor Gregg Hull shared his excitement about the facility. “As a former resident of the area, I know that northern Rio Ranch has been lacking in public recreation facilities, and The Hub is going to be a great addition,” he said.
The development of The Hub began in 2021 “when an opportunity was presented to purchase and remodel an existing building,” the city said in its release. The project came in at a total cost of $3.8 million, which includes the property purchase, remodel and furnishings. It is also creating 11 positions to staff the facility.
“When I was elected District 3 City Councilor, my commitment to the citizens of District 3 was to establish facilities that would serve them and better the area,” City Councilor Bob Tyler said. “The Hub wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the other Governing Body members and city staff. Their hard work and dedication to this project is what turned this from an idea into reality.”
The library portion of the facility will have normal operating hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and will offer books, eBooks, movies, author events, Wi-Fi connected public computers, checkout kits, printing, a public meeting room and more.
The recreation center will be open Monday through Saturday with wide-ranging hours. Its amenities include pickleball, dance, arts and crafts classes, special events and programs for all ages.
The Hub is set to open May 17. The city is planning a grand opening and ribbon cutting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 17 with food, entertainment and giveaways. For more information on the ceremony, reserving spaces, hours of operation and more, visit rrnm.gov/4838/The-HUB.
