A resolution authorizing a budget adjustment for Phase 2 of City Center Campus Park was signed Oct. 26.

As part of its 2023 regular session, the New Mexico State Legislature appropriated $350,000 to plan, design and construct Campus Park Phase 2. Funding for Campus Phase 2 was included in the Governing Body’s 2023 Capital Outlay Funding Priority Resolution.

These funds will be combined with money previously appropriated by the Legislature and funding included in the 2024 Fiscal Year Budget to complete the design and construction of Phase 2.

Phase 2 will include tiered vendor and programming areas, a small performance viewing area, pedestrian routes, site grading, landscaping, electrical (including pedestrian lighting), renovation of adjacent parking lot spaces to the west to create handicapped parking for events and pedestrian access between those parking lot spaces and Campus Park, and expanded areas for food truck parking and access to power.

Once plans are finalized, a final cost estimate will be used to determine if additional funds will be needed to complete the construction of Phase 2.
