Memorial held for veterans at Veterans Memorial Park in Rio Rancho
Albuquerque Veterans group held a memorial service Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.
Watching the memorial, separate from the crowd, was Lt. Col. retired Stephen Joseph Keppler, U.S. Army, who did two tours in the Middle East. He was a ranger and part of three generations of a military family.
“This is a very special ceremony,” he said. “My mom is out there and I brought her because we lost my father two years ago. His name was Richard J. Keppler. He was an Air Force retired colonel. And my son is a captain in special forces 5th Group. His name is Andrew Joseph Keppler.”
