What's up this weekend? A look at what's going on around Sandoval County Nov. 28-Dec. 1
1. The weekend starts early with Thanksgiving on Thursday. Why not start it off with a little movement? The Hobbler Gobbler, hosted by RunFit, makes its way around Rio Rancho Thanksgiving morning at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. The 10K gets under way at 9 a.m. with the 5K following at 9:15 a.m. The Kids K is expected to get going at 10:15 a.m. Participants will receive a long-sleeve performance T-shirt and have the chance to win age group and overall awards. 2. Thanksgiving weekend also means Small Business Saturday. Join the Rio Ranch Regional Chamber of Commerce as it hosts the Holiday Arts & Crafts Show to get a head start on holiday shopping. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature local vendors, hot cocoa and Santa. Pictures with Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The chamber is located at 4201 Crestview Drive SE.
3. Corrales will also be celebrating Small Business Saturday all day with the village’s tree lighting following at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Complex. There will also be local prizes and caroling.
4. Saturday’s Horseshoes and Heels Gala serves as a fundraiser and awareness campaign for the horses at the Stables at Tamaya Resort and Spa. Money raised from the event will be used for veterinary care, training, shelter and feed. The cocktail reception begins at 5 p.m. for socializing and a silent auction, and guests will also have the opportunity to meet some of the rescued horses. A three-course meal will follow, with the evening closing out with a live auction and music and dancing to the Austin Van Band. To purchase tickets, visit TamayaHorseRehab.com/Events.
5. Cheer on the Cleveland High School Storm as they take on the La Cueva Bears for the state championship Saturday at Wilson Stadium. The Storm toppled Centennial in Las Cruces Friday night to advance to the championship match. For more information, visit nmact.org/sports/football/#championship.
