Man charged with kidnapping in Corrales
CORRALES — A man was arrested by probation and parole in Albuquerque and summoned to court for kidnapping an ex and three children at knife point.
Antonio Brower-Walsh, 27, of Albuquerque, was charged Aug. 6 for four counts of kidnapping, three counts of child abuse, aggravated assault, battery, false imprisonment and interference with communications. He was arrested by probation and parole Aug. 7.
Corrales and Albuquerque police departments responded to report of a possible kidnapping on Aug. 5 that started in Albuquerque and continued into Corrales, according to a criminal complaint.
According to a victim interview from the complaint, the victim was allegedly threatened with a knife while in a car in Corrales where an altercation took place near the intersection of Corrales and Angel roads.
The victim said they gave Brower-Walsh, an ex, and his friend a ride into Albuquerque. Three children were also in the car. The victim alleged that Brower-Walsh pulled out a switch-blade style knife, threatening them with it, continuing to point the knife at her while going north on Loma Larga Road, according to the complaint. The victim stated at one point they were approaching a Corrales police officer parked on Loma Larga Road and wanted to pull over and ask for help, but Brower-Walsh pointed the knife at them and said, “You better not stop.” They continued on Loma Larga until they reached the Angel Road intersection, where the friend was let out.
The complaint states Brower-Walsh began to grab the victim from the passenger seat while they were driving. It adds that he exited the vehicle and tried to pull the victim from the car and bit their elbow, leaving marks officers noted in the complaint.
The victim then alleged that Brower-Walsh slashed the front tire of the car and successfully pulled them out of the car. The victim held onto the driver’s door, trying to get back in when Brower-Walsh began driving in circles in the dirt driveway of the friend’s home, it states. The victim was allegedly dragged until they eventually were thrown off the car, leaving significant scrapes to the victim’s knee.
The victim said Brower-Walsh then fled the area in the vehicle, with all three children still in the car. He returned and asked the victim to get back into the car, which they did “to try and diffuse the situation.”
Brower-Walsh eventually let the victim and kids out in Albuquerque, and the victim immediately called police.
If he is convicted, Brower-Walsh could face more than nine years in prison.
