RIO RANCHO — A local business now has a brick and mortar to call home.

Last year, Envision Creations was a nomadic, one-woman show that created balloon art for events in the area. Now, Brittany Gutierrez has expanded her business into an event planning and supply store located in a business strip on Deborah Road. Though, she is still for all intents and purposes a one-woman show with the help of her husband and kids.

Two days after her grand opening on Oct. 14, Gutierrez spoke about her journey to getting her own location. She said in the past year and a half she has grown as a person and as a business owner.

“I did a lot of events and just saved up money from those events to get here, and it’s just being consistent with clients, loyal clients as well, and just staying on top of it,” she said.

When Gutierrez began, she only did balloon decorations.

“Well, I ended up moving into weddings. I do full table setting decor now, and we ended up expanding to retail stuff. So now you can buy plates, you can buy helium balloons,” she said.

Her new store has a “balloon bar” with many colors to choose from, grab-and-go balloon garlands, themed sets and more. “It’s a spot for everything. One-stop shop,” she said.

Gutierrez has also worked with other businesses and companies like PNC Banking, Boot Barn and Urban Wellness.

“It’s expanded so much. I’m entering all these bigger companies and all these bigger clientele and expanding my knowledge by not just offering one type of thing. That’s why when you come in here, you’re not just getting a retail shop. You’re also getting a free consultation,” she said.

As she establishes as a more permanent business in Rio Rancho, Gutierrez reminded the community that she is local and now that Party City on Coors is closed, she can meet all those same needs.

“I want to show everyone what I have to offer. It’s a new beginning. Party City is not here any more, so I want to be able to fill in that gap,” she said.

Its closing was one of the catalysts for her opening. The other was Gutierrez being laid off by the government.

“With the whole government layoffs that happened recently, I was part of that. So at the very end, me and my husband were like, ‘You’re either gonna do it, or you’re not gonna do it, or you’re gonna go back to your career in government and not to your dreams.’ So I said. ‘Why not? Let’s do it.’ What’s gonna stop me?” she said.

“God gave me this opportunity. You know, maybe he stopped it, letting me work at this government job, so I can do what I love to do.”

While it was hard for her, she admitted it pushed her into her dream.

Going forward, Gutierrez wants to work with other businesses, schools and plans to have themed holiday selections as well. Currently, she is preparing for football season parties.
