BERNALILLO — Sorry Spartan fans, unfortunately, there will be no football game at Spartan Stadium tonight, Oct. 10.

In lieu of the schedule change, the Bernalillo girls soccer team (5-8-1) will play underneath the lights against Santa Fe Indian School (1-13). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., and will serve as the de facto homecoming game.

The Bernalillo High School football team was set to play their homecoming game against visiting Aztec (1-6).

However, the game has been officially canceled, and, as a result, Bernalillo was awarded the win via forfeit.

Due to injuries, Aztec was unable to send the appropriate amount of players to Bernalillo.

With the win, Bernalillo advances to a 6-1 record, including a 3-1 record in the district.

The homecoming football game was supposed to be the time and place that the Spartan homecoming court was announced. Instead, the homecoming coronation was announced after the Bernalillo and Del Norte volleyball game Oct. 9.

The Goon Squad has really found its groove recently, having outscored opponents 83-12 in the last two games.

On deck for the Spartans is the defending 4A state champions, the Bloomfield Bobcats (5-1), who head to Bernalillo Oct. 17 for a rematch of the 2024 state semifinals.
