Spartan athletes get All-District honors

BERNALILLO- What a year for Spartans athletics, and with some bright futures come some accolades. Here are the All-District players for boys soccer, and girls volleyball. The Rio Rancho Observer will share the rest of the All-District selections for the other Spartan sports once the information is confirmed with the programs respective coaches.

Bernalillo High School boys soccer

First team: junior Victor Vega (forward/midfielder), sophomore Fabian Roque (defender/midfielder)

Second team: junior Jeremy Alvarado (defender), junior Gael Valle (midfielder), senior Ivan Najera(forward/midfielder), and senior Gabriel Rivas (goal keeper)

Honorable Mention: freshman Andrew Chavez (defender/forward), eighth grader Lucas Cervantes (forward/defender), junior Edwin Candelas (midfielder), and junior Mario Rodriguez (midfielder/forward).

Bernalillo High School girls soccer

First team: none.

Second team: senior Aailiyah Madrid (midfielder/forward), senior Nicolette Aceves (goal keeper), and junior Liana Garcia (midfielder).

Honorable Mention: none

Coaches of the Year: Indiana Madrid & Bernadette Garcia.

First team: none.

Second team: Haley Armijo (libero/ defensive specialist)

Honorable Mention: Leandra Valencia (outside hitter)

Other: Haley Armijo (libero/ defensive specialist) also earned a third team All-Metro selection.
