Vincent “Vin” Buscema Jr. was shot by his father Vincent Buscema Sr. June 9, and on July 8, Vin passed away from his injuries prompting an upgrade in charges against Buscema Sr.

Now, Vin’s friends and loved ones are coming together to support his family.

Vin, a devoted practitioner of jiujitsu, held the rank of black belt, was a jiu jitsu professor and part owner of One Jiu Jitsu in Rio Rancho.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Vin’s sister-in-law to support his family, which also includes his two children.

Rio Rancho Police Department says it started when Buscema Sr. sent threatening text messages to his son. Vin and his wife Melissa were at their home with their two children when Buscema Sr. shot the couple.

Melissa is back at home. However, she is still recovering from her injuries.

According to his obituary, Vin graduated from RRHS in 2002, had a love for fitness and jiujitsu, contributed to numerous productions in the film industry, and was a member of the IATSE 480 Union.

One Jiu Jitsu had this to say about Vincent “Vin” Buscema Jr.:

“Vin Buscema was a beautiful person. He was charismatic, loving, generous and full of life. His heart was so big. If you were ever in need of anything, you could always count on Vin to be there for you. There are few people you meet in life like him. To know Vin was to love him. He gave so much of himself and his time to others. He mentored many of our youth, sponsoring numerous students over the years in the art of jiujitsu to give them an outlet and an opportunity for a better life. His discipline and dedication to the sport earned him his black belt in 2023. His leadership wasn’t limited to the time spent training, however. He inspired others to give 100% both on and off the mat. He pushed others to surpass their boundaries so they realized improvements in all aspects of their lives. A friend aptly described Vin as their sun; you gravitated toward his warmth and the light he cast. He was and always will be a huge part of our One Jiu Jitsu family. We miss him immensely.”
