No surprise here: Five Cleveland High School girls soccer players were named first-team members on the Class 5A All-State list released this week.
They are Rylie Pengelly, a defender; midfielders Ella Lent-Koop and Sienna Salazar; forward Arissa C’de Baca and goalkeeper Madison Johnson.
No other CHS players or any Rio Rancho High School players were named to first or second teams nor for honorable mention.
For the boys, Storm midfielder Dominic Aguilar and goalkeeper Joaquin Armijo were first-team selections, as was Rio Rancho defender Xavier Chandler.
Cleveland forward Emmanuel Ruiz, plus Rams midfielder Douglas Cutshall and goalkeeper Emilio Mendoza were named to the second team.
