All four City of Vision varsity basketball teams tip off at 5:30 Tuesday in APS Metro openers

The annual APS Metro tournament runs this week (Jan. 9-13), with four games in five days for everyone. The brackets, usually not determined until all teams have played at least a handful of games, were prepared in November.
This is the second straight year Albuquerque Public Schools has invited teams from outside the metro area to compete in this event.
Highland is hosting this season’s championship games, on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. (boys) and 6 p.m. (girls).
GIRLS
Defending girls champion Hobbs faces West Mesa in the first round. Other games in the Eagles’ top half of the bracket are Cleveland-Albuquerque High, Valley-Eldorado and Hope Christian- La Cueva.
Rio Rancho-Highland, Cibola- Sandia, Santa Fe-Volcano Vista and Gallup-Atrisco Heritage are in the bottom half of the bracket.
BOYS
Hobbs and Santa Fe are entered in the boys field. First-round games are as follows: Rio Rancho-Sandia, Eldorado- Del Norte, Hobbs-Highland and Manzano-Volcano Vista are in the top half of the bracket. In the bottom half, it is Hope Christian-Atrisco Heritage, West Mesa-Cibola, Cleveland-Santa Fe and La Cueva-Albuquerque High.
