BERNALILLO — New political officials were sworn in at the Sandoval County Commission Chambers Dec. 30.

Serving as the Master of Ceremonies was Sandoval County Manager Wayne Johnson, and officiating was 13th Judicial District Court (Division 9) Judge Allison P. Martinez.

Being sworn in in the New Mexico House of Representatives were Alan T. Martinez (District 23), Kathleen Cates (District 44), Catherine Cullen (District 57), and Joshua Hernandez (District 60).

“I’m humbled to be able to continue representing the great people of District 23 and I am hopeful that with the upcoming session, we will finally make public safety a top priority,” Martinez said.

Those sworn in to the Sandoval County Commission were Jon Herr (District 2), Jordan Juarez (District 4) and Joshua A. Jones (District 5).

“I appreciate the leadership of Sandoval County to have a swearing in ceremony that is so local. It helps to keep in mind of the district and our constituents that we are representing,” said Cates. “All of the elected officials are Team SANDOVAL, and should be working to keep us in a safer and thriving community. It is great to have a ceremony and tradition that reminds us of that importance.”

Sandoval County Clerk Anne Brady-Romero and Treasurer Jennifer A. Taylor were sworn in as well.

Jay C. Block, who was elected to the state Senate in November, had his swear-in rescheduled to Jan. 2.

“This is home, Sandoval County. I just love it here. We have incredible people that work here, and I want to thank them all: Republicans, Democrats who I have worked with and have supported me,” Block said at his swearing-in ceremony. “As I get ready to go to Santa Fe...I am going to go there and I am going to fight for you.”
