Wysong Watch: still questionable for San Diego State game
Luke Wysong checks in with a referee to avoid an offensive offsides penalty.
ALBUQUERQUE — University of New Mexico wide receiver Luke Wysong might miss his third straight game after missing most of the Colorado State game Oct. 26 after in injury, when the Lobos (3-6) travel to play the San Diego State Aztecs (3-5).
During a post-game presser Nov. 2, UNM head coach Bronco Mendenhall addressed the Wysong injury as the UNM star did warmup for the Nov. 2 game against Wyoming (2-7) but did not come out in pads.
"Thought there might be a chance, but after warming up-again, just not far enough along," Mendenhall said.
UNM will likely make a decision on Wysong's availability just before the Friday night matchup in San Diego.
However, with an extra six days of rest, the hope is that Wysong will be ready to fuel an already-exciting UNM offense.
Despite missing two games, the former Cleveland standout still leads UNM in receptions (50) and receiving yards (663). Stepping up in Wysong's absence has been UNM wide receiver Ryan Davis, who has 15 catches for 220 yards and one touchdown.
