It was announced by the Albuquerque National Weather Service that Rio Rancho and surrounding areas are subject to a winter storm warning from 8 p.m. Nov. 6 to 11 a.m. Nov. 8.

According to the update, at least three to six inches of snow are possible depending on altitude.

"Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches," it reads.

The greatest snow amounts in the Albuquerque Metro area will be along and east of Tramway and higher up on the west mesa.

Rio Rancho's forecast, according to the Albuquerque National Weather Service:

A slight chance of rain showers between 2-4 a.m., then a slight chance of snow showers after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Scattered snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 5-10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Snow likely, mainly after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. North wind 5-15 mph becoming east in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Snow before 5 p.m., then rain and snow likely. High near 37. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Rain and snow likely, becoming all snow after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

A chance of snow before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Parts of Sandoval County, including Jemez Pueblo, have been issued a winter storm watch for the coming days as well.
