RIO RANCHO — SoberFest, a community event dedicated to celebrating recovery and promoting wellness, raising awareness about addiction and recovery, reducing stigma, and supporting those on their journey to sobriety, is coming to Haynes Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12.

"We are thrilled to bring SoberFest Rio Rancho to our community, and grateful to our sponsors — Desert Mountain Healing IOP, Ideal Option and Sandoval County Fire and Rescue — for their support in making this event possible," said Sean Roberts, one of the event organizers. "This event is about celebrating the journey of recovery, supporting each other, and building connections that strengthen our community."

Sandoval County Fire and Rescue is one of the many first responder, wellness and health-related groups who will be in attendance.

“Sandoval County Fire and rescue often takes patients to the hospital who are sick or injured, directly relating to substance use disorder. Celebrating citizens who have overcome this disorder gives us great pleasure,” said Shannon Farrell, captain of the public health and safety outreach program of Sandoval County Fire and Rescue.

According to Roberts, SoberFest Rio Rancho promises a day filled with fun, education and inspiration for individuals and families from all walks of life. Attendees can enjoy live music, games, arts and crafts, face painting, food trucks and vendors, and have the opportunity to connect with local recovery resources and services.

Speakers will also be in attendance to tell their stories of hope and recovery.

“I’m particularly excited for the speakers, who will be telling their stories on how they recovered,” Farrell said. “I think we all need to be encouraged that recovery is possible.”

SoberFest is a free event, open to everyone, and all activities are free of charge.
